This is the original cellar. You can see the ducting
(on the left) that will be visible after the tear-down.
Looking west, prior to beginning the work.
Looking east.
Looking east ... the window is a good
frame of reference for the picutres to follow.
Looking south, towards the crawl space.
Also a good reference point.
08/26 Looking south. The floor is mostly done, as is the back wall.
The floor is sloped in 2 directions, so, each board had to be cut to fit in situ.
08/26 That's sawdust floating in the air. You can see the room from a different angle.
You may be able to see the cut of the sub-floor boards, how they're cut at a slight slope.
08/26 Looking along that back wall. The 2x4s laying flat on top of the sub-floor boards
are there to gague whether the sub-floor boards were cut correctly... they're pretty close.
At the top of the wall is the old crawl space, which we'll use for storage eventually.
10/10 Three walls are done. Use the window as your frame of reference ... it's at the front of the house.
The room is approx 20' long by 12' wide.
10/10 Note the ducting on the left wall, it's visible in the pre-tear-down photo (the 1st one).
The gap in the middle is a closet doorway.
10/10 Three walls almost done, floor almost done.
That massive sheet of plywood is sheething to give that wall more support
in the event of an earthquake. It's 1.125" thick, 7' wide, and 2' tall.
10/10 The south wall (on the right) will lead to storage in the crawl space behind it.
